Benchmark Ecology is a small business, based in Devon, with a hands-on personal approach. Most of the work is carried out by Anne Harvey. Other specialists can be called upon according to requirements.

Anne Harvey grew up on a small traditional mixed farm in Devon, has a degree in Agriculture and a Certificate in Biological Recording and Species Identification. From an early age she was fascinated by the natural world around her. Being passionate about the natural environment, and recognising the need for marrying the needs of conservation and agriculture, she moved into environmental research. She has worked for the University College of North Wales, Wye College, Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER), Dartmoor National Park Authority and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH). Since working on the Countryside Survey 2007 for CEH, Anne has worked as a freelance ecologist, offering a wide range of services.

Qualifications:

• BSc in Agriculture (University of Reading)
• Cert. in Biological Recording and Species Identification (University of Birmingham) 
• Various specialist plant and animal courses
• Full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (MCIEEM)
